Why Hartford Youth Scholars?

It is our philosophy that the quest for educational access and opportunity is a team effort involving the ongoing commitment and dedication of students, educators, and parents. Starting in middle school and continuing on through college graduation, HYS makes a ten-year commitment to the social, emotional, and academic success of all Scholars. We take pride in our ability to provide individualized, one-on-one support to students throughout their educational experience to ensure that all Scholars will enroll in and succeed at the college level.

Regardless of whether they attend public or private schools, we work to address the needs of every Scholar, as well as to provide them and their families with a nurturing and supportive community throughout high school and college. With frequent communication, academic monitoring, and special attention to the college process, HYS is considerate of every Scholar’s individual situation in order to make a college degree not just a dream, but a reality.

Our program’s student-centered community is committed to helping Scholars achieve their personal and academic goals along their journey with HYS. With targeted, one-on-one support, we hope that all Scholars will continue to excel both inside and outside the classroom, and find ways to give back to the Hartford community.
