 The Application Process

 1. NOMINATION

 The first step in the application process is for a scholar to be nominated, whether by a teacher, mentor, parent/guardian or through self-nomination. We are looking for students who enjoy learning and challenging themselves, families and students who are committed to making HYS a priority, and those who otherwise would not have access to the opportunities provided by this program.

2. SCHEDULE A FAMILY INFORMATION MEETING (FIM)

All families (parent/guardian and stud ent) interested in applying are required to attend ONE meeting. Families can schedule FIMS on the parental portal. Zoom links will be sent to families prior to the meeting. 

3. CREATE AN HYS APPLICATION ACCOUNT

Including all required documentation:
- Application
- Personal Essay & Short Answer Questions
- Teacher Recommendations
- Transcript (4th, 5th, & 6th grade report cards &                  standardized test scores)
- Current Year Taxes, 2024 (1st page only)
- Picture
- Proof of Residency (Utility Bill or Lease) 

4. COMPLETE THE ONLINE APPLICATION

Use the link sent to your email following and follow the steps to create your account. You may begin an application but you MUST schedule a Family Information Meeting (FIM) in order for your application to be considered. 

All of These Steps MUST Be Completed Via Parent Portal Account 

 5. SCHEDULE AN INTERVIEW FOR
YOU AND YOUR SCHOLAR

Finalists will be selected for interviews which will include both the student and parent/guardian(s).

Nomination Deadline - February 9th, 2026
Admissions Deadline - March 16th, 2026
Applicant & Family Interviews - April 6th - April 18th, 2026
