Real Stories / Headmasters

Education has changed everything not only for the promising students of Hartford Youth Scholars, but also for the independent, charter, magnet, and public schools that have enrolled these Scholars. There are myriad mutual benefits afforded to these Scholars from underserved communities in Hartford, as well as to the secondary schools they attend. These Scholars consistently evolve into leaders and role models, and enlighten others with their personal experiences.

The heads of school at Loomis Chaffee and Westminster School have witnessed this first-hand.

Meet BILL
PHILLIPS

“Hartford Youth Scholars offers excellent preparation for students from Hartford.”

Hartford Youth Scholars offers excellent preparation for students from Hartford. At Westminster School, just as we seek to enroll students with a diversity of backgrounds and experiences from around the country and the world, enrolling diverse students from our home in Hartford County is always a priority, which our partnership with HYS advances successfully.

Meet SHEILA CULBERT

“ The students we have accepted over the past several years have each been well prepared, ready for the challenges of a rigorous curriculum, and eager to join a large, diverse community of young people.”

The Loomis Chaffee School enjoys a wonderful relationship with the Hartford Youth Scholars Program. The students we have accepted over the past several years have each been well prepared, ready for the challenges of a rigorous curriculum, and eager to join a large, diverse community of young people. Moreover, they have each also brought a willingness and ability to be campus leaders and good citizens. We are proud of our affiliation with HYS and of the terrific work it does in helping talented young people achieve their dreams.
